Gir Cows- Our Pride!

Remember the times when milk was known to be a ‘complete meal’? Often we hear our elders talk about their golden era where food was fresh, purity was the essence and what they consumed reflected outside. Talk about the glow on their faces, immunity or strength! We all will agree that barring the age factor, they are way healthier than today’s generation. Ever wondered why so?

We, at holistic, wants to bring the same essence in the livelihoods of people today. Starting with the essential, MILK, we attempt at offering our customers some premium quality milk, fully fresh, no added preservatives and with an earthy feel to it.

Be Wise, Choose Right!

A1 milk is obtained from cows of Western origin like Holstein Friesian, Jersey etc. and yields large quantities of milk. On the other hand A2 quality milk is procured from cows of Indian origin like Gir, Sahiwal etc. which may give relatively lesser milk.

How are they different and what is better? Let’s see

Our Gir Cows:

One of the most beautiful looking cows - Gir is the one with an Indian origin. The golden cow is very beautiful and one can easily differentiate them from the rest because of its hump, horn and throat skin which are present in exotic breeds.

When you look at a Gir cow, you can easily judge because of their:

  • HUMP :- You will observe that in non-Vedic or exotic cows, hump is missing but in case of Vedic gir cows there is a hump which has a specific vein called Surya Ketu Nadi. This hump has its own importance because the vein in it absorbs all the energies and radiations from sun, moon and all luminaries from the universe which eventually is transferred in cow’s products like milk, urine, dump etc. Thus there is a proper scientific and biological reason behind them producing rich A2 milk while the others producing A1 milk.

  • Dewlap :- You see a specific folded skin below the neck which apparently gives the products its strength and quality.

  • Forehead :- One can even distinguish on the basis of forehead because Vedic cows have a round forehead while the others almost have a flat one.

  • EARS :- Innocence and serenity is what one can prominently observe in these cows.

Isn’t that surprising right !? You might ponder that where do we get A2 milk to supply to our customers? Let us have a look at that!

Gau Seva Parivaar Samiti

Close to Jasdan, around 60 Km from Rajkot – Gujarat, there are close to around 10 Gaushalas & around 1000+ Desi Gir cows are associated with us. These people are more than happy to serve us their produce, and we make sure that it reaches you. Their main motive stands to provide fresh, unfiltered and unprocessed products to the masses which aligns with our objective.

Some of these Gaushalas are close to a hundred years old. Before any such mass producing milk factories even saw the shine of the daylight, these Gaushalas were in full swing. Not only cows, they even provide shelter to others like buffaloes, sheep etc.

Do you have memories of villagers who used to treat these animals as if they were one of them? The belief was these animals too have life and when they are happy with the atmosphere around they do tend to give a much better produce. These Gaushalas in Jasdan are true to these beliefs and do provide them with an atmosphere where they are not captivated in one area. They are surrounded by huge fields with grass grown soaking natural rain water, ayurvedic herbs and rich quality greens. These animals are left in the open to graze in the organic - natural land, prepared through natural resources without any chemicals and pesticides, herbs will allow these gir cows to obtain their daily nutritional requirements which will eventually reflect in the quality of milk as well.

In these Gaushalas, they are cared for and attended with utmost respect and love. They are fed with some of the special herbs like Ashvagandha & Shatavari which will not only improve the produce but make sure that their internal body functioning is proper. Worst that could be done to these speechless animals is injecting them with chemicals to increase milk production or using antibiotics and artificial inseminations. These are strictly prohibited here. Proper check-ups at regular intervals are also conducted.
